Col Desmond A. Reid, Jr.
Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Cyberspace Warfare Group, MARFORCYBER
Upon graduation from Syracuse University, Colonel Reid was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and reported to The Basic School and the Basic Communication Officer Course in Quantico, VA for training.
Colonel Reid’s command assignments include: Commanding Officer, Company B, Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School (MCCES); Commanding Officer, Company A, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 28 (MWCS-28); and Commanding Officer, 8th Communication Battalion.
Colonel Reid served in operational Information Technology and Communications staff assignments within 2d Marine Division and 2d Marine Aircraft Wing; the Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School and as Inspector-Instructor, Greensboro NC for 4th Force Service Support Group. He also served in cyber operations assignments on the Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command (MARFORCYBER) staff as Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence (G-2); and as the MARFORCYBER Commander’s Action Group Director,
His joint assignments include service within U. S. Central Command as the Theater Information Assurance Branch Chief; and the Central Region Theater NetOps Center Deputy Commander; and within U.S. Pacific Command as the Joint Cyber Center-Pacific Operations Chief.
Colonel Reid has graduated from the U. S. Marine Corps Command and Control Systems School, the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the U. S. Army War College, where he earned a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies.
Colonel Reid has deployed in support of Operation SUPPORT/UPHOLD DEMOCRACY with Battalion Landing Team 2/2; Operation IRAQI FREEDOM with II MEF Headquarters Group; and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM with USCENTCOM and with II MEF Forward/Regional Command Southwest.
Colonel Reid currently serves as the Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Cyberspace Warfare Group, MARFORCYBER.
